Financial help once you’ve started studying
If you get into financial difficulties while you are studying you may be able to get assistance from your university or college’s Access to Learning Fund. The Access to Learning Fund is intended for those students who require extra financial assistance in order to complete their course. Priority is usually given to mature students, students with dependants, final year students and any other students experiencing exceptional circumstances. Every Higher Education institution has such a fund. Monies awarded are usually in the form of non-repayable grants.
Institutions may also offer other hardship funds in addition to the Access to Learning Fund. You should contact your college or university student support department for more information about all types of hardship fund – use the links for contact details.
