Applying for art and design courses
How to apply:
There are two ways to apply for art and design courses in York - Route A and Route B.
Route A is the standard UCAS application route for full time undergraduate courses. Click here for details.
If you are applying through Route A you can choose up to six courses. Your application will then be sent to each of your choices at the same time.
Route B is aimed at applicants studying a Diploma in Foundation Studies (Art and Design) to allow them time to identify a specialism and prepare a portfolio.
If you are applying through Route B you can list up to three courses. You will be asked to indicate your first, second and third choice and your application will then be sent to your choices in order of preference. If you receive, and accept, an offer from your first choice your remaining choices will be cancelled. If you do not receive an offer, or decline one, your application will be sent to your second choice and so on.
When to apply:
UCAS needs to receive your application between 1 January and 24 March in the year you wish to start the course.
What happens next:
You will have 14 days to reply to a route B offer. If you fail to reply within this time the offer will be withdrawn and your next choice will consider you during the next round of interviews. If you have applied for Route B courses only, you can only hold one offer.
